Thermostatic showers are a useful tool in the bath room for taking bath with constant temperature water which is beneficial for all, especially infants, children and old/sickly people.
Thermostatic showers mean shower bath with water at a constant set temperature. Just like how a human body has constant blood temperature of 36 degree centigrade, if the water for bath is at a constant temperature, then the body is not subjected to temperature fluctuations and this is very desirable for infants, children and even old/sick people while taking bath.
Thermostatic showers are a good addition and ideal equipment for your bathroom. There is a built-in temperature regulator within the shower unit. One can set the desired temperature up to certain values as per design of the thermostatic showers. The cold water and hot water flow get adjusted by the automatic valve controls as per the temperature setting. For example, if the shower water becomes colder then the thermostatic device will cut the cold water flow and bring the temperature of shower outlet to the pre set value. Similarly if the shower outlet becomes hotter, due to the reduction in supply of cold water which could be due to many cold water taps and/or toilet flush at home being simultaneously operated, then a thermostatic shower will still keep the shower outlet water at set temperature by automatically increasing the cold water supply. This is not possible in a normal mixer shower with the result that suddenly the shower water can become nearly scalding unless one adjusts the cold water flow manually. Of course there are limits of flow control in thermostatic showers in the sense; wide variations in flow cannot be expected for temperature control as the flow adjustment control may not take place to the extent required.
It is for this reason that cold water supply to the thermostatic showers should not be directly from main water supply where pressure fluctuations can be of a very high order, but from an overhead tank kept in the attic. Hence the cold water is fed by gravity at nearly a constant pressure. Usually the cold water tank and the hot water cylinder both supplying to the thermostatic shower are located at nearly the same elevation so that inlet pressure of both remains nearly identical enabling the thermostatic showers to operate well.
Many models of
Thermostatic Showers are available online as well as with local dealers. The prices can vary according to the design and style. The maximum temperature setting of the shower outlet should be checked to ensure that it is within the range desired by you.
